Dear Readers,

It is a pleasure to kindly thank Mrs. Adriana Radu, from the Avangarde Group, for the initiative to involve the Brazilian Embassy in Bucharest, within the Romanian Investment Zoom Project.
One of my goals in the diplomatic mission in Romania is to strengthen bilateral trade relations between Brazil and Romania. Thanks to the RIZ program, the Embassy of Brazil will be able to get in touch with numerous mayors in the counties of Romania. Together with the distinguished political leadership from the country’s town halls, we will succeed in establishing bridges between the business environment between Brazil and Romania.

Bilateral trade flows between Brazil and Romania are around US$ 600-700 million per year, which is far below the potential that I believe can be achieved. Brazil’s goal is to increase this trade volume to at least US$ 1 billion annually. Despite the challenges, we are optimistic about improving both trade and investment.
Several Brazilian companies have invested in Romania, particularly in the IT sector. Notable examples include Stefanini Group, Brazil’s largest IT company, which is headquartered in Bucharest and operates in neighboring countries such as Bulgaria and Hungary. Another major Brazilian IT company, VTEX, has also established a presence in Romania. Romania’s central location and highly skilled workforce make it a prime destination for IT investments.

On the Romanian side, companies such as the Alexandrion Group, a major exporter of alcoholic beverages, have shown interest in expanding their operations in the Brazilian market. The role of the embassy is to foster business contacts between the two countries and highlight the potential of the Romanian market for Brazilian investors.

The Brazilian Embassy is actively pursuing several new avenues of collaboration. This includes an agreement on cyber defense, where Brazil and Romania are working together to exchange experiences and strengthen their respective cyber security agencies. Another important area is civil defense, with discussions underway to establish a memorandum of understanding for cooperation between the two countries. In terms of cultural and educational exchanges, the embassy is also working to promote student and faculty exchanges between universities in both countries.

Furthermore, plans are underway to organize a second edition of the Brazil-Romania Business Forum in Bucharest next year. This event aims to bring together representatives from the public and private sectors to explore new business opportunities and strengthen bilateral trade and investment. The first edition of the Brazil-Romania Business Forum was organized last May in Bucharest by the Brazilian Embassy in partnership with the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The event brought together more than 100 participants from Romania’s business communities to boost trade and investment between the two countries.
