Our community is located on the southern bank of the Crișul Alb river.
It is located 42 km away from the municipality Arad, very close to the border with Serbia and Hungary.

The basic occupation of the inhabitants of Zarand is agriculture, and about 15% of the inhabitants are workers who work in the neighboring towns of Ineu and Pâncota, Chisineu-Cris.
The predominant economic activity is agriculture (vegetables) and animal husbandry. Their gardens are effectively “covered” by numerous solariums, one more “imposing” than the other.
The people of Zărand are famous in the county for their diligence and for the material achievements they benefit from growing vegetables.
Vegetable growing (with trends in the development of ecological vegetable growing) is the main economic activity of the commune’s inhabitants, the products obtained being sold in the markets of the largest cities in Transylvania and Banat.
Cultivated: early cabbage, cabbage, peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, autumn cabbage, etc.
Along with vegetable cultivation, grain cultivation, technical plant cultivation as well as animal breeding are the main sectors of agriculture responsible for supporting the local economy.
