Sanya Cross Border E-commerce Industrial Park Co. is a state-owned cross-border trading company, established by Sanya Tourism and Culture Investment Group, Sanya Agricultural Investment Group and Sanya HYT Tourism Investment. The company carries out import-export operations, establishing a global procurement system and an international distribution network. It mainly imports food and consumer goods and exports chemicals, food additives and other products from China.
The company operates on the basis of a decision taken by the local government of Hainan Province on August 7, 2020, which promulgated the Implementation Plan of China’s Comprehensive Pilot Area (Sanya) for cross-border e-commerce, based on the Masterplan for the construction of the free trade port. Hainan (FTP), first announced in 2018 and published in June 2020, by the Central Committee and the State Council. The paper outlines the key objectives, special policies and priority sectors for transforming the tropical island into China’s largest free trade area and a global business environment. Unlike other free trade areas in China, FTP Hainan covers the entire territory of the island and has 11 industrial parks dedicated to industry and services.
The company’s representatives expressed their interest in acting as a distributor / importer of Romanian agri-food products and consumer goods in a duty-free system. Product promotion and distribution channels are both online, through the e-commerce platform (which is currently under construction) and offline, through supermarket chains and other duty-free stores in China. The products will be marketed on the Chinese market duty-free, to which is added only a 30% increase compared to the import price of the product. This addition represents the added value of the product locally by translating the labels, changing the transport packaging, etc.
