HE, Mr. FUAD KOKALY, Ambassador of Palestina encourages Palestinian investors to invest in Romania in real estate and infrastructure.

English and Romanian Version

There, are many collaborations in the economic field between Palestine and Romania, historically speaking between Palestine and Romania there have been trade relations since the interwar period, Romania opened a trade office in Jaffa in 1926, in order to coordinate citrus exports to Romania. We further develop our economic relations in several fields as tourism, trade, agriculture, infrastructure and real estate activities.

We develop activities in the field of food industry, tourism, trade and real estate activities, there are companies of Palestinian citizens in Romania that develop these activities, and in the agricultural field Palestine imports live animals (cattle and sheep) for the Palestinian market.

For the Palestinian market, an export of consumer products can be developed, as well as Romanian investments in the Palestinian infrastructure.

From Palestine, you can import fresh and processed agricultural products, marble and consumer products like olive oil, olives, fresh dates and olive wood carvings used for religious art and not only.

Olive wood carving is an ancient tradition in Palestine that has continued until now. It involves the skillful chiseling of olive wood and is most common in the Bethlehem region. The tradition of making the handicrafts began in the 4th century under Byzantine rule in Bethlehem, which continues to be the main city that produces the craft, following the construction of the Church of the Nativity.

Since then the tradition has been passed on generation by generation and is dominated by the descendants of the original local carvers. These products are well-known and appreciated abroad and also by the tourists that visit the Holy Land.

From my experience as Ambassador of the State of Palestine in Romania, I have met willingness in all my official meetings from the central and local authorities to develop economic relations between Romania and Palestine.

In Palestine there are many graduates of Romanian universities, and they work in the public and private field and actively participate in the economic and social development of Palestine. We have here in Romania, Palestinian businessmen who invest in several fields like medical, commercial and tourism. There are many Palestinian doctors working in the Romanian health system, public and private. Between Romania and Palestine there is a governmental commission that coordinates economic, political and educational activities. The Commission meets regularly to boost cooperation between our countries in all areas.

At the local level so far we have concluded 8 twinning agreements between the mayors of Palestine and Romania, including Bethlehem City Hall. These agreements open other horizons for Palestinian and Romanian businessmen in order to identify investment opportunities at the local level and play an important role bringing together those interested in investing in various fields.

My piece of advice for businessmen from Palestine and Romania is to focus investment activities in areas such as tourism, food industry, agriculture and medicine. In Romania there are many investment opportunities.

From my position as Ambassador, I will encourage Palestinian investors to invest in Romania and in real estate and infrastructure.

Exista multe colaborari in domeniul economic intre Palestina si Romania, istoric vorbind, intre Palestina si Romania au existat relatii comerciale inca din perioada interbelica, Romania a deschis un oficiu comercial in orasul Jaffa in anul 1926 cu scopul de a coordona exporturile de citrice catre Romania.

Dezvoltam in continuare relatiile nostre economice in mai multe domenii, turism, comert, agricultura, infrastructra si activitati imobiliare.

In Romania exista multe oportunitati de investitie. Din pozitia mea ca Ambasador, ii voi incuraja pe investitorii palestinieni sa investeasca in Romania si in domeniul imobiliar si infrastructura.
