The history of our contacts reaches far back into history. The first verifiable documents of mutual commercial relations come from Middle Ages, when the Czech Kings took active interest in events in the area of what is today´s Romania.

In the recent history, Czech Republic and Romania shared quite similar experiences in transition from a totalitarian regime to democracy. Since the birth of the Czech Republic in 1993, our two countries have enjoyed a fruitful cooperation.

Economically, there is a very positive trend in the bilateral relationships thanks to the presence of more than 1000 Czech companies in Romania and also the rising volume of trade between our countries. Czech companies are present in a variety of sectors and can offer services and experience in infrastructure, public transport, railways, electro buses, smart technologies, renewable energy, also in the field of water treatment, retail, food, pharmaceutical and health sector.

Many Czech products are known in Romania. This is only a brief list of the truly best-known, most important and most interesting products – Czech glass making industry, branded porcelain, beer Plzeňský Prazdroj and Pivovary Staropramen, herbal liquor Becherovka, Skoda cars…

In general, Czech business community appreciates Romania as a large internal market and favorable geographical location at the gateway to the entire region of Balkans, Turkey, Asia, and North Africa.

Recent positive development in our bilateral trade relations helps also CzechTrade Office in Bucharest, which is operating under the auspices of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bucharest and offers its services to Czech and Romania companies. The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bucharest promotes activities also with Czech Center in Bucharest and Honorary Consulate in Timisoara.

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bucharest besides the excellent long-term cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania, is also promoting its activities with Avangarde Group-RIZ, clusters, industrial parks, and large number of other Romania institutions.

Even in these hard times caused by covid-19 the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Romania welcomes every Romanian who is interested in to get into the economic cooperation in the trade or investment activities. Czech-Romanian partnership has still a lot potential for even closer relations as strategic bilateral economic partners within the European Union.
